Kingscourt Brick has been awarded a range of accreditations in ISO Standards. These include:

  • Quality Management System to ISO 9001
  • Environmental Management System to ISO 14001
  • Occupational Health & Safety Management System to ISO 45001

National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI)

The success of the management systems held by Kingscourt Brick is in the form of certification, assessed annually by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI).

This means that the company has gone through a rigorous auditing process and has demonstrated that they meet the robust standards required to achieve the certifications, ensuring the quality, environmental and health & safety of the business.

The successful certification to all three standards demonstrates ownership from top level management and demonstrates commitment through leadership to ensure that employees have the appropriate skills and that effective controls are put in place to enable them carry out their work effectively.

ISO Certification to the 9001, 14001 and 45001 Standards is a mark of quality and credibility and is an asset for the Kingscourt Brick Plant.

ISO 9001: Quality Management System

ISO 9001 is the world’s most recognised quality management system standard.  Kingscourt Brick achieved ISO 9001 in 2016 and by doing so have implemented clear, repeatable processes to maintain a quality service for their customers.

The quality management principles adopted by Kingscourt Brick include, a strong customer focus, the motivation and influence of top management, the process approach and the commitment to continual business improvement. ISO 9001 certification has helped Kingscourt Brick provide effective processes to ensure that customers get consistent, good-quality products and services time after time.

ISO 14001: Environmental Management System

Since November 2016, Kingscourt Brick has maintained an Environmental Management System to international standard ISO 14001 with a set of environmental objectives and targets for all relevant activities.  The company undertakes its operations as a quarry and brick manufacturer in a manner that is least detrimental to the environment and complies with all relevant legislation, codes of practice and conditions of its Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) Licence.

ISO 45001: Occupational Health & Safety Management System

ISO 45001:2018 Occupational health and safety management system is the world’s first  international standard for occupational health and safety and was introduced in March 2018, with the ultimate goal of helping businesses to provide a healthy and safe working environment for their employees and everyone else who visits the workplace.

Achievement of the ISO 45001 accreditation by Kingscourt Brick in August 2022, highlights full compliance with the Standard and the work the Team have achieved on site in developing better and more robust occupational health and safety measures.  The certification demonstrates the commitment Kingscourt Brick has to its employees’ health and well-being and to continuous safety improvement.

What is next for Kingscourt Brick?

At Kingscourt Brick, we continuously strive to improve. The brick plant will continue to manage the Integrated Management System to make it more effective and efficient.  This in turn will ensure a consistent quality output, reduce risks to the business, safeguard workers and remain compliant with regulations.

ISO 50001 Energy Management will also become the focus in 2023 and the brick plant Team will work towards implementing this international standard.  The standard provides a practical way to improve energy use, through the development of an energy management system.  By implementing this standard, plant will continually improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy use and consumption.
